Diabetes Mellitus

Living with diabetes mellitus can be quite challenging and discouraging. The thought of living with an illness for the rest of your live alone can scare the hell out of you. This should not be. This is because you can properly manage your diabetes mellitus and live a normal life.

That you are suffering from diabetes doesn't mean a dead end or a time bomb. It means a life reorganizing time; a time when you take a closer look at your diet and physical activity. A time when you realize that health is wealth and that to enjoy good health, you have to take responsibility.

At the long run, it might be the diabetics that will enjoy better and longer life. The reason is not far fetched. Those suffering from diabetes mellitus are more likely to take good care of their health, diet and life style, (though compelled by their situation) which are the things that enhance life.

There are steps you can take to enjoy healthy living. I have listed some of them below:
  • Take good care of your diet. Have a good diet plan and eat right. Eat more calories, fruits and vegetables and eat less sweets and animal fats.
  • Exercise daily. This helps you burn up unwanted fat especially in our stomach.
  • Be careful not to injure your feet. Wear loose shoes and dry comfortable socks (diabetes socks). When trimming your nails, be careful not to trim it too low or injure yourself.
  • Take your drugs properly and never allow anyone talk you out of taking them.
